B.J. Taylor has sold more than forty stories to Chicken Soup for the Soul, two dozen stories to the Guideposts family of magazines, numerous articles to Writer’s Digest, Romantic Homes, Victorian Homes, John Gray’s Mars and Venus in Love, and many other publications along the way. B.J. represents the following magazines: Guideposts, Angels on Earth, Mysterious Ways, and All Creatures, and looks forward to talking with you about your stories for those magazines as well as other nonfiction markets. She is the author of the memoir CHARLIE BEAR: What a Headstrong Rescue Dog Taught Me about Life, Love, and Second Chances, and she wrote a book to help writers titled, Writing True Stories: Using the Winning Formula P MS to a T. Now that she’s retired from the business she and her husband ran for twenty-three years, she lives in Southern California half the year and in Northern Idaho the other half. She enjoys walking her scruffy dog Charlie Bear, golfing, aqua classes, traveling, and helping writers to reach their goals.
As Representative for the Guideposts family of magazines B.J. would love to see true stories (no fiction please):
For Guideposts: personal experience true stories filled with hope and inspiration, particularly family relationships, forgiveness, and struggles that are resolved through faith.
For Angels on Earth: true stories of feeling or seeing some type of angel in your life.
For Mysterious Ways: these true stories should have an “ah ha” moment, something unexplainable, which the reader didn’t see coming.
For All Creatures: think outside the normal dog and cat stories for creatures of all kinds and how they impact your life.
B.J. Taylor will also look at stories for Chicken Soup for the Soul where the focus is on a true, slice-of-life event focused toward the title of one of their many books published each year.
